Welcome Back!
My name is Joyce Petersen.  I am one of the Reading Intervention teachers at Rosa Parks. The other reading intervention staff and I work together to assist readers who have been identified as working below grade level expectations in reading.  We offer small group instruction using specific intervention programs.

I would like to tell you a little about myself.  I grew up in Indiana and went to school in Chicago to receive my teaching degree.  I have taught in Kansas, Arizona, Florida, and overseas in the Czech Republic.  I have also had experience working for Sylvan Learning Centers.   I have lived in Mankato since 2005 and have been working in the Mankato schools for 6 years.  My favorite subjects to teach have always been reading and literature.  I love to get lost in a book!

I hope that I get a chance to meet you sometime this year.  Watch for Title One programs and activities and try to attend!  Your child’s success is so important to all of us at Rosa Parks!

Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns.  I would be happy to talk with you about your child’s progress.
